All you need – from beginner to full bike licence!
The following is a brief description of the training we offer, please click on the links for more details of each course.
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) The very first step to getting on the road is usually to attend a Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) course. We run these every weekend, on Saturdays and Sundays. The course starts at 8.30 am., and usually finishes around 4.30 pm. On successful completion of CBT, 16 year olds can ride 50cc mopeds restricted to 30mph. Aged 17 or older the limit becomes 125cc and not more than 15 bhp.
A2 Standard Bike Test Carrying on from CBT, this course prepares you for the standard test, which is taken on a 125cc machine. Successfully completing this course will allow you to ride bikes up to 33bhp, carry passengers and ride on motorways. After two years, the restriction is removed and you will have a full, unlimited licence.
Direct Access (DAS) Only available to riders aged over 21, this course uses 500cc machines for training and test. Successful completion of this course will give you a full unrestricted licence straight away.
Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS) Recently introduced by the DSA, this is a post-licence course which continues rider development in a practical, hands on manner. The course is recognised by most insurers and can lead to reduced premiums!
