What Is The Direct Access Scheme (DAS)? For those wanting to learn
to ride a motorcycle will hear people speak of a DAS course. The DAS course is a
scheme that allows people over the age of 21 gain their motorcycle licence without
any restrictions as the the size of motorbike they can then ride.
The
DAS Course requires that the person taking the test must do so on a larger,
more
powerful motorcycle showing that the rider can control the machine safely.
The motorbike must have at least 46.6bhp and so typicly a 500cc bike will be used.
The minimum requirements to complete a Direct Access Scheme Course (DAS) are:
- Over 21 years old
- Hold a valid UK driving licence with Catagory A (motorcycle entitlement).
- A current CBT certificate (DL196) - (Part Of The Course If You Do Not Hold One)
- A Written Theory test pass certificate
